KTR tears into Congress over Haryana loss: Tried to deceive voters

Telangana’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA KT Rama Rao tore into Congress, alleging the party was trying to deceive the voters through “seven poll guarantees.” The development came a day after Congress suffered a significant loss to the BJP in the Haryana Assembly elections.
“In Haryana, they tried to deceive people with seven guarantees. But recognising the Congress party’s lies, the people gave them a fitting response,” KTR said, while emphasising the Congress’s dismal performance in the state polls.
The BJP made a stunning turnaround in the Haryana Assembly polls, wiping off Congress’s initial gains, before ending up with 48 of 90 Assembly seats. The Congress ended up with 37 seats and failed to capitalise on the 10-year-old anti-incumbency against the BJP.
Turning his attention back to Telangana, KTR slammed the Congress government for failing to deliver on their election promises.
Highlighting the grim atmosphere in the state, KTR stated, “If KCR were still Chief Minister, farmers would already have money in their accounts, and Bathukamma sarees would have reached women. This time, the festival doesn’t even feel like a celebration.”
He accused Congress of creating fear among the people, making it difficult for them to celebrate festivals peacefully.
KTR mentioned a case in which a Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) inspecting the Bathukamma ghat in Warangal was mistaken by locals for someone who came to demolish their houses and was chased away. “This is the state of affairs under Congress rule,” he said.
He further lambasted Congress for introducing a “bulldozer culture” in Telangana. “Seeing the current injustices by Congress, everyone is thinking of KCR,” he added, asserting that KCR’s leadership was much better.
Recalling Congress’s pre-poll promises, KTR pointed out the party’s failure to follow through, such as the Rs 2 lakh loan waiver and the creation of 2 lakh jobs.
“Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy may have benefited, but the youth of Telangana certainly haven’t,” KTR said, calling out the Congress leaders for letting down the people.
KTR criticised Congress for failing to deliver on key promises, from unkept pensions to unmet guarantees for women and farmers.
He emphasised the growing discontent across all sections of society, accusing Congress of diverting funds meant for welfare schemes and instead prioritising large projects like the Musi River initiative, where he alleged Congress leaders would personally profit.
KTR vowed that under KCR’s leadership, the BRS would continue to fight for the people of Telangana and hold Congress accountable for its “420 false promises.”
He assured, “As long as KCR and BRS are here, no one needs to fear. We will stand for secularism, equality, and justice.”
